Pastor Venson's immediate family includes four older sisters who all reside in the Washington Metropolitan area and seven nieces and nephews. Pastor Venson is a resident of Mitchellville, MD and loves working with God's people in transformational ministry.
Within the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Rev. Venson has served on the Conference Strategic Planning Task Force where he was trained to serve as a Consultant with local churches involved in a Strategic Planning process, including his own church. Pastor Venson has also served as Chairperson of the Baltimore-Washington Conference commission on Christian Unity and Interreligion Concerns. He currently serves as a member of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the Washington East District Committee on Ordained Ministry, and has recently served two quadrennial terms as Chairperson of the Washington Area Episcopacy Committee. In this current quadrennium, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Jurisdictional Multi-Ethnic Center. Pastor Venson enjoys traveling and has served as a delegate to the World Methodist Council in Brazil. He has also participated in Baltimore-Washington Conference mission initiatives in South Africa and Zimbabwe and led church travel/study seminars to Israel, Egypt, Zambia, Namibia, Italy, Turkey, and Greece.
Rev. Mark D. Venson was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the D.C. public school system. In 1983, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College and graduated from Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1988 with a Master's of Divinity degree. Pastor Venson was ordained Deacon in the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1987 and ordained Elder in 1990. He has served as Pastor of Locust U.M.C. in Columbia, MD and currently serves as Pastor of Ebenezer U.M.C. in Lanham, MD.
